I have a Middle Atlantic Universal Connector Panel - and I am looking to moung some NL4 speakon adapters on this panel.
My question is this - what do you guys use to mount the nl4 to the panel??? Screws??? Pop-rivets???
Thanks..

way off topic, I just find it unusual that I havent signed onto the tech forum in a long time (long enough I forgot what my old screen name was) and the most recent post I see is someone with the same name as me....and based off of the email address, maybe even the same middle name.
welcome

I've built a few panels from blanks, and tapped holes and used screws to mount the connectors. I've also seen small machine screws with nuts, and pop rivets. I like the look of the proper screw, it fits the tapered hole in the connectors better, but a pop rivet won't work loose. Then again if you have to change a connector a screw is easily removed.

See - that is the thing -- I have another panel - that I used rivets for - and maybe I used the wrong rivets (it was my first time) ... but once I plugged in the XLR cable, one of the rivets popped out (no pun intended).
Any suggestions from someone that has built a few of these things???
It would be greatly appreciated.

I use screws, 4-40 flat heads fit nice and flush in the Neutrik faceplates and you can get consistant torque on all the screws. Who knows what kind of compression you get with pop rivets. I've tried pop rivets and although you can assemble fast they can crack the connectors or pop out as you found. As also mentioned, it makes field repairs easier with screws.

Yes.. exactly. The pop riveted panels I've seen had washers on the back.. you won't pull these thru.. but it looks like a hack job, IMO. The correct size screws looks more professional.

#4 machine screws and nuts. They are very small but get the job done. I add a tiny bit of loctite as well to make sure they don't vibrate loose. Hard to see in this picture. Speakons in the middle. XLR inputs off to the right. Make setup/teardown very easy on me. This is for a specific biamped top setup. Everything is mono..high and low in, two speakons out with identical signals.

p.s. Samson 3 way crossover and behringer 8024 are backup equipment only! Haven't had to resort to them ever, but they are light enough to carry around just in case.

More blinky lights always looks more impressive to 99% of those who see it!! I think that's a core goal over there at Behringer. : ))
Damn fine looking racks BTW.
