View Full Version : DIY Dayton and Beer

Hey Everyone,
Sorry for my abscence here lately, I've been quite busy!
Just a reminder that DIY Dayton is coming up next weekend. Saturday the 8th, at the Hampton Inn Springboro. People will probably start meeting and bringing in stuff at 8:00 or 9:00AM, but things usually don't get fully rolling until about 10:00 AM. I will try to be at the hotel at 8:00 to open things up and start setting up. Then, we'll run all day with a break for lunch, and probably head for dinner around 6:00 or 7:00.
Looks like we'll have the usual day of listening to various peoples' designs, hanging out, shopping at PE, doing measurements, demos, etc. I believe Jim Griffin is bringing a new line array to demo. I think Christian B. and I will be putting together a real-time implementation of the Behringer DCX2496 starting from a speaker with no XO to a relatively tweaked design over the course of the day.
Yes Noid, we will go out after the event, starting with dinner at TomKatz, which is right next door to the hotel. They've got lots of beer there, but it really is more of a restaurant than a bar. But there's bars around too if time permits.
Am I missing anything?
Oh, and we may be a short on equipment for the main demo room, so if anyone would be willing to loan some CD players, amps, etc., please send me an email.
See you all there!
Darren

Darren,
It would be nice if you could post the use of the DCX as a diy project like those in the flyers. I am interest in buying the DCX and DEQ but they seem a little too complicated and need as much help as I can get.
Thanks

WHAT? You're coming to DAYTON?
I better not show up. :)
Too bad I am not bringing anything. Nothing. At all.
Maybe next year.

Last year you showed up Friday evening, around 4:00-5:00, and we were able to take our stuff then into the conference room, while you and others were setting the equipment up. And, we were able to check out our speakers Friday night and a group of us went to TomKatz that night for dinner. Is nothing going on Friday nite this year?

If there is something going on friday night i would like to know so i can adjust my travel plans. I have a 4 hour drive and planned on showing up around 9pm since there is nothing planned for friday night, but if we can drop stuff at the conference room friday night and get some dinner i can adjust my travel plans.

Jack, will you be attending the Dayton event? If so I'd be more than happy to show you how to use the DCX2496, to the best of my knowledge. I've been tinkering with mine for a few months but still haven't tapped all of its potential.
Also, there are a lot of threads on forums about the DCX2496, including this informative one from diyaudio.com. Somewhere in there is a link to join the DCX newsgroup:

I think a demo of the dcx is a necessity at this event... i think i'll be getting one for the heck of it. especially if there is a diy event sale at PE :)

Hi Paul,
Yes, we will do dinner Friday night as well. I confirmed since my last post that nobody is using the conference room Friday night, so it shouldn't be a problem to get set up organized the night before. Indeed, I will plan on heading over there around 4:00-5:00 again, and then we'll go from there.
Sorry for not clarifying, on oversight on my part.
So, anyone who is coming into town on Friday, meet us over in the hotel lobby area around 5:00 or 6:00, and we'll do dinner and hang out. We'll try to wait for dinner until 7:00 or so to leave time for the travelers, but if everyone gets hungry, we may head over early. In that case, I'll leave a message with the people at the front desk, just ask them!
See you then!

Good question. Me, I want you to bring your Cryolites but that's what I want to hear. I'm not sure but I think I will be bringing 3 as well. Even if they all don't make a peep, they can just sit there and look ugly.

2-pair fullrangers, sub pair, and 2 other subs. Then my Candor amp, Wavetek function generator, and some cans. I'll have plenty, so why can't you? I want to hear your *cough* ..se flagpoles, Cryolites, and your TQWP's.
Excited,
Wolf

Hi Christian,
Thanks for your offer and info. I am in NY and will not be able to make the event.
By the way, I have built a pair of Dr.K and ready for the "next level" - may be a DCX or DEQ/room correction next??
Cheers,
jack

I have tons of parts for amps. I could bring my parts and build an amp at the show. LOL.
I've done stranger things, like repair my Coustic sub amp in the speaker testing room a few years ago.
