I have messed around a little with some speakers, just getting the feel for matching components and crossovers. I want to jump a little deeper into it now. In the years I've heard and owned several speakers using Horn drivers, to name a few: Klipsch KG4 (own a pair now), KG4.2, Forte, Heresy, JBL SVA1800 (own a pair now). I want to build a set using horn drivers and a pair of 10's in a MTM configuration. I'm looking at the selenium bi-radial lense and I might get a set of JBL compression drivers to screw onto these. I'm looking at a pair of 10s because I want bass but don't want to mess with passive radiators right now and I'm Not partial to ported setups, so I'm going sealed. Anyone have any ideas on some dual 8's or 10's that would go well, or some hlcd's that would do well. I have a set of boxes with removeable front baffles that I've been swapping in and out as I mess with different things, volume is approx 1.7cuft.

I have no clue, but it is very interesting. I'd be intersted in this as well. By the way how did your JBL sva1800 compare to your Klipsch speakers? for ex. the forte's...

I like the SVA's in a large room a little better. The Klipsch perform better in a smaller room. The rear port of the SVA's need atleast 5 feet behind them to keep from getting a "boomy" sound. You can either plug the port or sometimes this is eleviated with using the adjustable crossover built in (turn of a knob drops mids 2db). The Klipsch aren't as bassy in my opinion but perform better in rooms where space is limited. Both are very clear and crisp with the 3 way of the Klipsch probably being a bit more full sounding. The SVA's are no slack performer though, I picked mine up for 200 off ebay and picked them up the next day, for the price difference the SVA beats the Klipsch if and only if you have the ability to move them 5+ft from the wall. I have a long narrow living/dining room- approx 40ft long- and the SVA's had plenty of room behind to get lots of bass but not be "boomy"
