Though some careful un-denting leaves me with an RS270 with crease marks and an almost identical impedance curve (within the realm of normal differences!) to the other RS270's in my possession.

No extensive listening and no frequency response measurements on it. I was focusing on re-doing measurements for the big 3-way towers.

So, an order for a new woofer plus a few miscellaneous crossover parts I want to swap out may, if all goes well, leave me with a set of speakers that sound great AND have no particular issues to speak of any more.

Is it the cone or the dust cap? Either way, there probably won't be much of an issue unless the damage is severe.

I remember my brother in law putting a finger through one of my sister's paper midranges when moving her speakers years ago - we listened and listened (my sister and brothers are musicians) and nobody could hear a difference, although it looked terrible. We just left the grille covers on after that.. ;)

No dust cap. It's the cone. The cone is aluminum.

I *will* do some further testing at some point, but I really don't want a damaged woofer in my nice shiney new monster towers. A new woofer is really a small drop in the total cost, sad to say.

Yikes...

i put a drill bit through a woofer cone years ago ...at about 3AM trying to get a project done. I then decided it was too late. oh well. hehe, i desperately try to avoid that
now...

bummer about the creases though
