Dual Sub Woofer Cabinet

I want to build a dual sub cabinet using 2 Dayton Pro 18 #295-085 like the Yamaha SW218V or the JBL SRX728S. But I can't find any specs on building that type of cabinet using the Dayton 18's. Also I'm looking for the specs on making a crossover for the same cabinet. Please help.

Not on my computer here but if you google and download WinISD you can load the specs onto it and play around with enclosure size and tuning yourself. Chances are that by the ened of the day, you willget at least one good recommendation here though, sorry I couldn't help immediately.

And.. you're going to want an active crossover for those cabs, not a passive. A Be-'ringer CX2310($89) is a good place to start, it at least has 24db filters, you couldn't build a passive crossover like it to handle 1000w for 3x the money.

I can see why you would want to build a pair. They're quite expensive.

I've been kicking an idea around using a pair of Pro - 18's for some ultimate 'Rock' speakers.
The Dayton 18 and MCM 18 are my 2 candidates.

If you've ever seen pro woofers unload below resonance in ported boxes - it's pretty wild.

Scroll down this web site and see an animation of a speaker unloading. The animation is pretty tame compared to real world experience.

Also, the power ratings for the pro speakers are way off. The Xmax on both say they'll handle only 140 - 150 watts RMS before they bottom out, but even then, the SPL's at that wattage is 120 db!
The Dayton can also go lower - F10 22.5 hz versus the MCM 27 hz. Something to think about.

I haven't decided yet which way I'll go.

As for the crossover? It'll have to be 'Active'

All ya gotta do is take PE's (single woof) cab and double the volume. You're lookin' at 15 cf, that'd be (inside) 3 x 5 x 1 ft, or 2 x 2-1/2 x 3 ft.
