Hi I am looking at the owl tweeters. I see there

is 3 models and 3 upgrades. You can get them in

soft dome reg or upgrade gold soft dome tweeters

for more money. What is the differnce between

the two models? The sound is what is the real

issue here. I am also looking at the vifa ring

tweeter and the scan speaker 95000 and a seas

tweeter and usher and eton. I think that is all

the ones I am looking at. Yes they sound so

diffrent from one tweeter to the next. I have

not heard the eton, owlor usher tweeters. What I

am looking for is a twweter that is natural and

can play alot types of music. Please let me

know if you can help thanks jm.

I've used the OWI, Vifa XT19 and Seas 27TDFC and would have to say that the OW1 is my favorite of the three. The OWII and OWIII seem less popular than the OWI but they offer greater sensitivity. If you don't need the sensitivity then the OWI is probably the way to go.

I've done direct comparisons between the OWI and the Vifa XT19 and I like the OWI better although some would argue against this. The OWI can be crossed lower than the XT19 and sounds a bit smoother in the lower frequencies to me. It also has a little bit more sparkle and air at the top end. Both have excellent dispersion and will outperform most tweeters in this category due to the smaller dome size and the OWI is probably the only 3/4" dome that can be crossed as low as it can. The 27TDFC is a nice tweeter but I still prefer the OWI over it although I haven't done a direct comparison between the two in a while. I haven't used either the Usher or SS9500 but they are both supposed to be nice sounding tweeters that can be crossed lower than the OWI but will have poorer dispersion at high frequencies. Hope that helps and let me know if you have any questions.
