Hi I AM looking at doing a fullrange speaker

again. I was looking at the babb speakers I saw

on a diy web site. I wondered if they sound

any good or are they really fullrange? They would

work perfect for my basement were it gets damp

and hot cold. Please let me know if you or

anyone you know as use the and how they sound to

fostex,tb,lowther,css.jordan,hammer 12's and so

on. Thanks jm

I used them for car stereo in the 80's with very good success. I don't think they have changed much. The basic formula was a plastic basket, aluminum cone, foam surround, with no spider. Well suited for boxless car installs.

They are not in the same class as the drivers you mentioned. However, they do whatever they do very well.

First they are definitely waterPROOF. Dampness or just plain getting wet is not an issue for them. Drop them in the pool.

They're very efficient, and can be bright on the top end. They are full-range, no need for a tweeter. Great rock and roll speakers, with surprising low frequency extension. I never played around with filtering beyond active HP's, maybe you could tame them with some effort.

Car installs were no-brainers. Drop 6x9's in the rear deck, 5-1/4's in the doors, add about 75W per speaker and people would be amazed. You'd expect a pair of 10's to be in their somewhere given the output. Of course, that was 20 years ago...
