About four months ago, I finished building a set of 5 Dayton Budget home theater speakers, along with a 15" Quatro + 250W plate sub. It's been truly enjoyable to own, and has rekindled my interest in movies and in just sitting listening to music.

So much so that I'd like to upgrade and I need some advice on what projects to consider. I'm not up to designing my own speakers yet, so I'm better off with a proven design.

I could only squeeze $400-600 into the budget over a couple months, so I'd kind of like to upgrade in pieces. I'm thinking the center channel would be the first to be replaced, followed by the fronts. I'm thinking the rears and sub could stay, since I don't think SQ is so important in the rears, and since the sub is already quite satisfying and, frankly, more than I need.

The system is used for both music and HT, so I'd like a good balance of capability. I was thinking of the UniCC, or Darren's ultimate center from last month's catalog. But what of fronts? Something from the RS series? And given my budget, should I shoot for the best sounding center and fronts, and tolerate mis-matched timbre in the rears, or should I spread the money around to all five speakers, and accept somewhat less SQ? It'd probably be another year before I get a chance to upgrade again.

Thanks in advance, from me, to one of the most sincerely helpful forums on the internet.
