Question, My Yamaha receiver states it will crossover 90hz and below if the speakers are set to small and bass out is set to subwoofer. I used a test CD given by a link here yesterday and tested the Hz from 40Hz to 150 trying to notice a cutoff from the mains to the sub.
I did notice a decrease in SPL on my mains once I played the test tones below 90Hz, but a good bit of sound was still coming from them. They could handle it, no problem, but I just wanted to see/hear the crossover in action. I have an HTR-5230. Am I just expecting too much or is this normal. I thought I would hear a major cutoff from the mains.
My reason for this is because I was planning on the Zaph’s 3” Hi-Vi’s that he recommend crossing over at 150 or 100 for less power. So I thought I would try 90Hz for the learning experience.
Thanks for any thoughts.
