This is my first post here.

My intent is to build my first HT speaker setup. I wish to start off by building the center and fronts first.

I will be content with just tackling the three main front speakers for now. This does not mean that I will not expand in the future, so I will leave that door open somewhat.

I just purchased six HiVi S6N 6" shielded woofers and some Dayton shielded 275-075 tweeters. This tweeter is quite popular with HT speaker builders. I am aware of many projects that use it along with various woofers in the 5 1/4" to 6 1/2" range. Are there any projets, either TM or MTM that you may feel the S6N combined with the 275-075 would sort of blend well together? I was thinking of the Dayton III's as a starting point.

In simple form, what modifications would you suggest should be done to incorporate the HiVi S6N into the project rather than the original woofer used.

There is a complet list of specifications on the HiVi S6N available with a simple search online. The listed parameters, in the PE buyout sales listing do not show all the numbers.

The listed enclosure size, per S6N is shown as 10 Litres which I caculate as roughly .3 cu ft. or somewhere near 530 cu inches, or so. This, I assume, is for a sealed enclosure.

I guess that all I am really asking for is some guidelines as to how to change the Dayton III crossover design.

Any help would certainly be welcome.

I would do the mains as 2.5 way MMT. Let the 2nd woofer handle baffle step correction. The center could be and MTM this would require a different crossover. Also probably better off doing the crossover from scratch you might be able to use the high pass in the DIII. Not sure without modeling it.

I hope you already bought your drivers because the HiVi drivers you are talking about are already gone. I went down to PE yesterday to pick some of these up for a HT project for my Mom and they are sold out. The 4" drivers are all gone as well. From what I've been told, there are no more to be had. Sorry... I know I was.
