Replace sub amp

Got a deal on a HSU Research VTF-2 with a blown 150 watt amp. Hsu wants $250 for a replacement amp. Can I just drop in (obviously the size matters) a PE (or other brand) subwoofer plate amp and be good to go or is there something I'm missing?

Any preferences among plate amps? PE carries a couple. Which is better, best? Other recommended amps?
