View Full Version : decision to make
ok. i am a speaker addict and i have been VERY good about keeping my speaker habit in check over the last year or two. I have only built speaker projects for $$ and have not done any just for the hell of it type projects for me. Here is my problem. I have the major itch to build myself a new set of speakers, most likely a line array with powered woofers for 50/50 music/HT use. I have a plan in mind and the budget ready to go! OR i could get myself the Lincoln SP-175 Plus Mig welder i have been drooling over for the last year. The welder could be a business write-off but doesn't sound like a nice set of custom speakers. However, the welder could make the budget back and i could just build the speakers in the future. Hmmmmmm......

go for the welder. make back the cash and build something really cool. and if you ever feel crazy I've always wanted to see a line array built from aircraft aluminum, so you could put that welder to use! just some crazy ramblings. :)

Im with nick. I think it would awsome to see some speaker built out of aluminum. Go with the welder.
This one's a no-brainer. Tools always win, especially if you can make money with them in your spare time.

>well, the wife is gonna hate the fact that i will be "out in the shop" even more now that i am getting a new tool, but tools pay bills, as long as you use them right. So cover your eyes, it's time to burn metal!!!!!

Wise decision, my friend. Patience will yield a bigger budget for future speaker projects. Just put a little Hydrocortisone on that itch for now. But don't let it go away.

You want to see aluminum line arrays- go to audiodiycentral.com. Galleries, speaker projects over $1000. Not very good pix, but you can get the idea.
