Hey P.E. and those of us who love te dayton DVC driver and like to keep them on hand.
Just an FYI:
Two DVC's I have recived in the last week have had a separated spyder. (the plastic ring/spacer attached to the spyder that is supposed to be glued to the basket is actually free floating, thus ratling around loose)
I think P.E's manufacture's machinery either ran out of glue or clogged up as these drivers are not what I would expect from dayton. Just thought some one whould want to do a little QC before shipping any more out to customers.
I will contact Customer service to get another RA number for order but those on the board who have recently purchased DVC's and have installed them in this condition may want to contact P.E. For those who like to keep an inventory on hand you may want to check them before resale.

This happened with my quattro 15, but I sent it back and PE sent me a new one no problems.
They even inspected the new one before sending it to me (which I guess they should have done in the first place, but no matter)

It is my understanding that PE does not manufacture the drivers in question, and therefore does not package them. They are manufactured by Eminence who, apparently, is having problems with their glues as the DVC and Quatros are showing signs of problems. I would contact PE, but not get on their case as the manufacturer is ultimately responsible for the improper manufacture. An entire lot will probably have to be scrapped, so maybe PE will have a "screwed up woofer sale". We can only hope. ;)

It is not my intention to "Get On PE's Case" just to alert them of the problem, And Yes they are manufactured by Eminence so they are the ones who messed up and packaged bad drivers. I just wanted to alert PE before they sent more out. Additionally I wanted to alert those of you on the board like me that tend to stockpile parts without opening them.
PE has always done an excellent job, and has a great customer service staff who I’m sure will take care of my problem. No slander intended.
P.S I like the screwed up woofer sale idea in the thread above!! I would buy a few them and attempt to fix them myself. It probably wouldn't be too difficult.

The manufacturer is responsible but these are PE's products.
My brother bought all the parts for a pair of D3's along with a pair of 12" DVC's and amp so we could build D3 towers with a sub in each base. He had to send back 2 DVC's due to the front gasket being torn and the 3rd has the loose rattle.
After all this the PE tech argued with him over the obvious defect rattling of the 3rd DVC and told him they wouldn't ship out a replacement till receiving and testing the woofer for a defect.
My brother had planned on future orders from PE but says he won't after this experience and treatment.

I'm sorry to hear your brother had such a bad experiance, I purchase from companies all over the globe and PE usualy does a great job. Has he contacted Darren the product manager at P.E. ?
I would think Darren would be happy remidy the situation. I will give him a call tomorrow and suggest the cheap woofer buy-out idea! If I where you I would have him call P.E.

Thanks for the reply. Well, the next replacement had the same loose rattle only this time the tech handled the issue perfectly. He tested the woofer before cross shipping it to my brother. Also my brother noticed the supervisor he had talked to about shipping reimbursment and refund discrepancies has put the difference back on his CC.
I hope PE takes a more proactive approach to issues like this and that this last tech isn't the exception to the rule. This tech has restored my brother's confidence in PE and I wish I had his name to recommend he be commended.
