I noticed you posted up some pics of a few of the speakers I've done on your site...thank you for the kind words! The birch MTM's with the MCM aluminum woofers were made with some leftover Finnish 9-layer plywood (from a kitchen remodel). Another one of my first attempts using "book" value XO's...sounded like crap, until I started hanging around here and got some useful info about tweaking, etc. They sound great now! The Morel/Vifa buy-out is still a work in progress (another poor result of textbook LR config.) They were really improved with the use of a BSC filter that I got from Curt...still not quite right, but acceptable. I wish I still had the pair of Topaz (birthday present for an old friend)...fantastic speaker with detail, smoothness and killer imaging/soundstage...they really "disappear". Anyway, I couldn't be making great speakers without all the encouragement and wonderful folks here. Thank you everyone!

I feel truly indebted to the DIY crowd around here and I want to give as much coverage as possible of the people who inspire me, make me laugh and make me think. You're one of the many who really make this hobby a blast to be a part of. Keep up the good work my friend. You rock, John!

BTW, I will be working on those Def Tech buyouts soon and I will keep you aprised of what I find out. I'm thinking about an MTM now that I have enough drivers to pull it off. It's gonna be fun.

I'm looking forward to the Def-Tech design... one of those "damn, wish I'd bought a few more", like the Def-Tech 6.5 in Lou's Topaz. I only have two of the 5.25" ones, for a pair of TM's...maybe if I could come up with two more...
Here's a pic of my first crack at it...godawful sound to say the least! Another "wish I'd known about proper XO implementation". I tried 3 different config.'s gotten from XO Pro that a friend had done for me using the driver specs. All horrible...so 'm glad that you'll be working up something. I know they can sound good with the right tweeter/XO. You rock, too!
