I'm building a full hi-fi/home theater (audio) set-up for my best friend's wedding gift and I'd like a little advise with regards to driver selection and cross over design.

The fr/fl/rr/rl speakers will all be in .55 dayton ported boxes.

The rears are using the dayton DC160S-8 6-1/2" and Linaeum 6ohm 180 degree monopole tweeters.

Does anyone know what an optimal crossover fz would be for these? Should I use a zobel network for the woofer? Is phase in terms of cross over order (thinking of going 2nd) a concern?

The front left and right are also going to use the same boxes and woofers but will also use a midrange driver and 8 ohm Lineaum dipole tweeters that will be mounted on top.

What would the best x-over points be for this set-up? What midrange would work well here (I realize that the 3-way is a little silly hear, but some choices are being made aestetics as much as sq) Should the mid range get a zobel? Any suggestions for cross over order?

There will be two subs, one for each main...I have .50 cu ft boxes that I want to use and I can either go with an 8" or 10" woofer and ported or sealed. Each will get 100 watts rms and I'd like to keep the woofer cost in the $50-70 range. Any ideas of what can give me the maximum low range out of that small size and limited power.

Also do I need to do anything special (18db x-over?) for the center channerl, which will be dual 5.25 dayton sheilded woofer with a monopole Linaeum?

Thanks

Sounds like a great project, but I think the Linaeum tweeters (if they are the Radio Shack ones) and the Dayton 6.5" drivers are a poor match.

I wouldn't cross the Linaeums any lower than 2.5 kHz, and the Dayton 6.5 are pretty much dead weight from 1.5k and up.

It could be done, but how much you want to spend on a crossover? I would go with all 5.25" around.

I'm already married to the 6's so 5's aren't an option, though the center channels will get 5's and the main R and L will use a midrange to fill the gap in between. I want to keep the crossover costs fairly minimal as there are so many components to this set-up, I can't let any one thing get way out of hand. Also I know the person I'm giving it to isn't an audiophile and won't appreciate the difference between a $5 cap and $15 one.

What is the typical corssover point for dayton 6's and the 1 1/8 tweeters in their basic kit?

I think around 2 kHz.
