I'm working on a dayton rs225. My current crossover results in a slope that is -20db at 2700Hz, -30db at 4300Hz, and -40db at 7000Hz. Do you think this is steep enough?

Can you post a picture? My mind can't make a curve off that. I can host it if needed. I can tell you that in my 3way Dadalus design I used a 5mH 16ga I-Core (pretty expensive and big) along with a 150uF cap for a 2nd order slope at around 300hz which is probably what you want (slope wise not crossover wise) when used in a 3 way design. I like 4th order slopes on tweeters to midbass' though.

Is that the electrical transfer function of the crossover, or the acoustic transfer function? Offhand it sounds like 2nd order function @ roughly 1300 Hz, and I'd suggest you consider a steeper slope.

As Paul indicated, a picture or verbal elaboration will make it all clear for us, and we will be able to assist you better.

I'm in the process of setting up my web page. I hope to be running in a day or two. Will repost.
