I would like to buy a 12” Dayton sub woofer #295-464 and build a vented box for it the air volume is 3.41 cu.ft. but I don’t know the port size I would like to know so I can order both at the same time.

Adam, go to the link and download WinISD...you can enter the woofers specs and it will give you both suggested cabinet volume (which you can adjust and see how it affects response) and port dimensions. You can change the diameter of the port and it will come up with the length, just make sure the air speed through the port is below the recommended number. Hope this helps! Good luck.

4" dia. (as small as I'd go) and 17" is as short as I'd go. You could go as long as 21". You may not find a PE port this length. LOTS of people just use 4" PVC plumbing pipe. It's nearly free. You can use a roundover bit (1/4" is OK) in a router if you have one to roundover the insides of both ends of the tube. If your box isn't at least 19" inside, you can use an elbow (45* or 90*) to turn the port inside your box.
