Hey, buddy! I saw your "PS1 New Hotness" post. I have heard this before but I modded a Tosh instead that was all the rave at the time.
Your post has got me lurkimg around for the 1001 PS1. All the audiophile guys have been munching up all the 1001's on e-bay.
Interesting that the mod for the PS1 and the mod for the Tosh I did are almost identical. Both mods extract the audio at the DAC and throw on a DC blocking cap with a resistor and out to new RCA's. These audiophile nuts dont seem to like opamps very much as they are always bypassing them.
I was wondering if you pulled out your old PS1 yet and gave a listen? Would like to hear your thoughts on the stock unit.
Im going out today and wont be back untill I have a PS1 1001 in hand. The mod is very cheap so no real loss if its not all its cracked up to be. German's sure hold some faith though. $5000 speakers and $10,000 tube amps and a $20 PS1 sitting proudly in the mix.
Anyway, thanks for the spark. I will build a fire. Would like to hear your thoughts on the stock unit though.
