I'm thinking of using the AURUM CANTUS AC-200MK2 8" woofer for a 2-way design. Has anyone used these and if so do you think the mids clean enough for a 2-way speak?
Thanks

Leon,
The response plot (below) from the A-C site indicates a 2 way is possible, but not an easy cross. Note the 8 dB peak at 3400 Hz. You'd want this to be around 30 dB down from nominal, so the crossover order would have to be very steep, at least 4th order + a notch filter, assuming a crossover at 2K. Also, the low Qts of the driver will not allow it to have the bass response normally expected from an 8" driver. I can't really comment on it's midrange capabilities, only that is smaller brother, the AC130 does have very nice mid reproduction.
WinISD indicates it would have a vented f3 in the mid 60's in 12 liters tuned to 60 Hz. This was the best alignment I could come up with for this driver. It's strengths are the small enclosure size, and high SPL capabilities -around 114 dB with a 2nd order 40 Hz HP filter applied.
If a very small HT speaker that will play stupid loud is what you are looking for, this might just be the ticket. I'd suggest a tweeter that can cross below 2K, like the Seas 27TBFCG, or 27TDFC.
