Has anyone tryed the EXTREMIS 6.8 woofer?
I am considering them for a 2-way configuration.

Mid woofer driver
:: 7" cut out
:: Licenced XBL^2 motor
:: Neo motor Fully shielded
:: 7.02 ohm
:: 86db/w/m
:: 30-6khz

Fs - 30 Hz - BL - 9 N/A
Qms - 2.54 - Xmax - 13mm one way
Qes - .383 - Sd - 140 cm2
Qts - .332 - Vd - 364 cm³
Vas - 33.2 liters -Le - 0.13 mH
SPL - 86 dB @ 1W, 1m - Re - 7.02 Ohms
Power 100W RMS/300W Peak

QUOTE FROM ADIRE:
Our entries in the high end of midwoofers. Designed to take on - and beat - drivers like the legendary ScanSpeak 8545, Seas Excel offerings, and other high-end European drivers the Extremis units simply takes everything to another level.

Can this be true?

If you need a little woofer they work fairly well. They aren't as low distortion as one would think from the ad copy.

Here's a post with some independent testing data.

Here's a thread about a 2-way using the Extremis

I've been living with them in a 2-way with Morel tweeters for over a year now and I love them. Exceptionally clean and clear midrange, powerful bass, in-room response into the mid-20's in a TL enclosure. Highly recommended.

> I built Roman's Extremis 2-way and have been extremely pleased with it. Although it will fill up my 18 x 18 (plus some other openings to rooms and vaulted ceiling)room, it really shines with near field imaging.

I built the design below when that driver first came out. I wouldn't say that it has the clarity of its more expensive competition but it has a bottom end that defies belief in a small ported enclosure. You sacrifice sensitivity (80dB) but get an f3 of close to 30 Hz. Also that driver doesn't "compress" like a lot of non XBL motors do and as a result they don't sound harsh when you crank them way up.
