I purchased a Dayton DVC 12" and two DVC 15" drivers in 2001. During that time those drivers had a problem with rattling. I believe it is due to the VC leads slapping against the cone, but I may be wrong. I never noticed the rattle on the 12" as it was mounted in my trunk. The 15" were used as infinte baffle subs in the living room (awesome!!!) and I only noticed the rattle during high excursion.
What I want to know is what exactly is making the rattle sound and how can I fix it. I do not mind doing major surgery, but I do want to know the process and what to expect to run into.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance,
SteveS

Is this a matter of removing the dustcap and securing the VC leads better?

Naw, it was usually resolved by a piece of foam or the likes glued to the back of the cone where the leads are.
