hey everyone, i've written a program to allow the user to place the nominal impedance of drivers into a 6 x 8 matrix representative of a line array. the program will calculate the nominal impedance of the drivers (in it's series/parallel configuration) and also provide the sensitivity and efficiency gain in dB of the multidriver hookup. the matrix is comprised of 6 legs connected in parallel, each of the six legs comprised of 8 drivers connected in series. there are no bells and whistles, no power tapering computations, no animations etc. just a simple tool that will compute the nominal impedance and gain of multiple drivers in various series/parallel configurations. you have the option of saving out the data into a text file readable with notepad. the file extension is '.lad' for 'line array data'. this is an executable written in visual basic 6 so you may require the runtime vb files (downloadable from miscrosoft) hopefully the runtime files will already be installed on your windows based computer. since this program is an executable i strongly recommend that you have a up to date virus scanner installed on your computer BEFORE running the program. to the best of my knowledge there are no viruses, no worms, no spyware, or adware written into the program. please read the credit window (F1 key) for more info and my disclaimer of liability. i have gained a lot of knowledge over the years in the forum and want to give something back to the 'community'. if you are interested in using the program please email me and i will email it to you. if you have suggestions on improving the program i am interested in hearing them, however, i cannot promise that i will incorporate the suggestions, sorry.

I have an excel spreadsheet that will do this, that Hongrn uploaded a while ago. Its just an excel SS, no programming involved.

Hong or I can email it to you also. Sandycat's version sounds more extensive. Howver the excel ss will run on a mac, windows, or linux.

hi Marlboro, there were some in the forum that requested tools that were 'compiled' and did not require their computer to have excel. i was just hoping to fulfill their request. you are correct in noting that Hong's spreadsheet can run in other operating systems. this program will only run on a windows based computer.

Provided Link: Line array impedance table (http://ratch-h.com/arrayimpedance-revised.html)

Dozens of my students have built line array loudspeakers over the past 6 years. I created a table to guide them in planning non-power-tapered designs, linked to below. I eventually added a maximum SPL gain column. The arrays are always "show stoppers" at our students' annual project displays, if, for no other reason, they are large and don't look anything like what the other students have ever seen in a store.
