Another Vinyl Question

Will the PE vinyl laminate stick to primer? I have some speaker cabinets with a few panels primered. I was going to paint the cabs but decided to use the vinyl. I can sand it off if bare wood is required. It is oil based primer, not lacquer. Thanks All

When applying peel 'n' stick vinyl tile to unsealed particle board floors the tiles often don't stay stuck and the answer is to either prime the particle board or spray it with aerosol adhesive prior to applying the tiles.

So if anything the primer should be an improvement.
