Yes you can. Google for "line level converter" or "line output converter". You should be able to pick one up for $30 or so.

Well, that depends on what the signal is, not the physical jacks themselves. Is it a "speaker level signal going through the wires" Some older Stereos used RCA's for the speakers outputs.

If you were to simply connect a "speaker level" signal into a "line level" input, you would potentially (no pun intended) have a big problem.
