View Full Version : slightly OT Crashed Summer Dream...

So my car got hit this week (potentially "totalling" my car) and it looks as though the money I was planning on putting into a pair of tower 3 ways will have to be put towards a newer car. I'm fine and the car is drivable but damage is close to the value of the car.

Speaker problem: I ordered a pair of the AC-130MK2's when they were the DOTD for the midrange in my towers. Since I will most likely not be building the towers, any suggestions on using them?

Ideas I had:

Use them as mid/woofer in a two way surround speaker. Ideas for a good tweeter for this set up?

or

Use the pair in a CC upgrade in a MTM setup. Again any suggestions for a tweeter that would go well with these would be great.

I was thinking of the NEO-3PDR planar or G2Si ribbon though they were a bit pricey. Main reason is the project will be picked up next summer (when I have another internship and money again) and will be building a set of towers with similar components and don't want to cheap out too much.

Thanks again to the board for all the ideas and guidance.

Glad to hear you were not injured- that could really put a damper on your future speaker projects.

In don't know much about those mid ranges you have, but in my opinion ribbon tweeters are the best sounding type out there, so even a less expensive one will probably still sound impressive in a 2-way.
