For some odd reason I haven't received my flyer in the mail yet. Soooooo I turned to perusing it on the intertubenets to see Curt's mug staring back at me and this new little Tang Banger. I figured you would be dreaming something up just to justify you buying a pair of them. It does look interesting but I haven't done any digging over at TB's website for specs on the little beastie.

Just an observation, XMAX is 0.2 mm as compared to some of their full range drivers where XMAX is up to 1.2 mm. If it's a classic midrange application (maybe 800 Hz to 3200 Hz) it shouldn't matter.
Also,TB drivers tend to fudge the SPL and frequency response. Some of their other 3" drivers rated at 87 dB tend to test around 85 dB from my estimation. I would feel a lot more comfortable with additional test measurements from independent sources.

I was thinking the same thing. Plus the low-end response is amazing for the little Sd of a 3" driver and as you pointed out the published Xmax is very small. If it can play that low it will not play loud that low. Possibly TB need to explain further. They say it has a 6mm air gap height. It could be an under hung motor?

That small xmax is bad and the tiny magnet is worse.

Most of the 3" drives from TB are underhung in assembly.

For a 3" driver, that magnet is not small at all! I have no clue where you came to that conclusion. The W3-315D has a 7 oz magnet and it is a very controlled little driver. This 319 has a 3.6 oz, and can't be terrible for a 3" driver. I agree that the xmax is small, as all the other TB 3" drivers have at least a .5mm xmax, twice as much as this one.
