With tons of help from a few good friends, and the guys at DIYTUBE, I finally finished this beast. It is a 60 WPC tube amp. The face plate is Asian rosewood, and the rest is figured Maple. This thing was a PITA because I veered from the original monoblock design. Result after about 90 bucks worth of mistakes. A really nice amp! Images very well. Great headroom. A few good friends and I listened to it for a few hours yesterday, and I was pleasently surprised at the sound. Yeah, the first time I listened to it was with critics in the room. Gutsy huh;)

I had to leave before we had a chance to hook the Mong Da back up for comparison, but I halved the price in my buildup. Not too shabby....

Parts list:

OPT EDCOR: $130 Shipped
PT: $ 67 Shipped
Boards: $ 55 Shipped
Board Parts: $ 40 Shipped
Mistakes: $ 90 S**T out os luck;)
Chassis: $ 30 Plus time
Tubes EBAY $ 65 Beater tubes in case of error
Misc parts $100 Binding posts, etc.....
+_______________________
Grand Total: $577( I'm also going a little healthy on pricing and mistakes)

Not too bad IMO.

You can't even buy a tube amp with 60wpc for within 100 bucks typically that does not require work.

I'm not into building my own electronics, but the woodwork in all of the pics is AWSOME!!.

Hey Blair, Very nice amp. I think it sounded really good! Glad it finally came to life after all of the hard work. We need to all get back together again soon and really make it do some work! You left before we got a chance to throw on some Cykotics or Cradle of Filth!

Yeah,

Next time I'll be sure to pack the Slayer, and Pantera;)

I did get a good 8 hours on it yesterday, and I'll tell you it is very nice to have the overhead the 35 can't deliver. Do you have the schematic for that preamp of yours. I may build both that one and the one Dave gave me. That little preamp of yours is very sweet and dangerous to look at. I even considered having you build my next chassis;) Just kidding, but you really should host a pic and post that finish here just to show it off a bit. Great Job!
