I'm building a sealed sub w/ a Quattro 12". I'll be using the PE 240W but adding some EQ to pick up the low end. I plan on a Qtc of around .7, taking into account for speaker and amp volume.

I was going to use the sealed version the Q 12's project ideas. Is this accurate?

My question is, how much EQ and at what freq. to get a good musical sub w/ some HT use also. I already have the non EQ amp.

Thanks,
Andy D.

I'd build it flat, and see what you think, first. Assuming your room isn't huge, you will pick up a lot more "down low" than you'd think.

Something to consider is that for every +3dB you apply, you double the power requirement. That means that, while the overall response may get a bit flatter, the overall SPL you can achieve before clipping is reduced by the same amount. If it takes all 240W to achieve 105dB in-room, the best you'll be able to do cleanly is 102dB with the boost applied.

I'm assuming that when you say build it flat, you mean no EQ. Yeah, I will try that. This amp doesn't put out like I think they should have designed it anyway. I've read lots of people complaining about having to max out the vol. on the sub (myself included) to get "barely adequate" output.

Thanks for your input,

Andy D.

If you have to max out the volume, something's not entirely right, because I have mine set to 9-10 o'clock and I have all of the output I need. Enough to cause lead-slap on my Q15...
