OT: Fixed! (I think!)

Thanks to everyone who chipped in some very valuable information. Especially to mc who recommended the USB/SATA converter. That is something I've never seen before.

I have been able to start a Windows repair and it seems to be going well. I hope that I find the actual problem, but if I don't - my wife has already given the thumbs up for a new computer.

I'm not sure why she's being so nice - oh, wait, that's just the way she is!! :) :) :)

She's luring you into a false sence of security, she wants a new set of speakers, more than likely a large and excessively expensive ones... or at least that's what we all would like to believe.
