I was browsing the site this morning, and something hit me... Why are there no low power handling, low magnet weight, high sensitivity drivers on this site? Almost every speaker I've seen on this site (save for the very large ones) has an (IMO) oversized magnet. does anyone know where I can get small-magnet drivers? like a one inch by a half inch magnet on a 4 inch driver? that would be the optimal ratio of magnet to cone size for the application that I would be using it for. Excursion doesn't matter that much, although polypropylene or some other water resistant material for the cone construction would be a huge plus.

Another thing that I am looking for is light material to make enclosures out of. It doesn't have to be too easy to work with, but I need something lighter than standard wood. I probably don't need it to be too tough either, but it will go through more than your standard enclosure will, especially in the way of exposure to moisture. Will I need to coat it with like water seal stuff, or do I need to go more extreme, like bed liner? I plan to have two ports in it, both starting low and ending high, but pointed downwards from the top like a streetlight or a bendy straw. Like this.

Will this work well? keep in mind, the box will only be like .3 cu. ft. Also, how heavy will like oh... let's say 1.5 ft sq of the material be?

I don't really care how it sounds, it just needs to be loud... I have no audiophile friends, just ordinary people. People have no ears anymore, they just want loud.

I'm not really sure what you're trying to accomplish but I hope this helps. Try part number 264-828. Maybe try looking through the extended range drivers. They won't be the most sensitive drivers, but some of them offer neodymium magnets which will cut down on magnet size and weight.

How about the sonic impact stick on's? #300-950 A few posts have mentioned they work on cardboard etc.- If you need it louder buy some more. Gl

That's a good idea... I might try a couple of those out.

The reason I want to have light material and speakers is because I want to "pimp out" things other than cars. Like motorcycles, bikes, pedestrians... Anything that can possibly carry audio equipment needs to have some. I want light materials and speakers to cut down on encumbrance levels of otherwise bulky stereos. Anyways, those look good, but maybe a bit big still. I was thinking of using a pair of American Legacy 3.5 in. car stereo drivers, because they have high sensitivity for their size, and maybe an 8 inch pyramid woofer to make pedestrian gear. I currently use two 6X9's on my bike, and they sound okay, but really only go down to like 90Hz, just because they are running on less power than intended (15W each), and are in improperly sized sealed boxes. I want to build boxes lighter so that I can increase the volume without increasing weight. My pedestrian gear is in desperate need of mobile boxes, but the drivers themselves weigh almost 4lbs together, along with a loaded t-amp. What I was thinking for mobile boxes is dual ports facing 45 degrees down from the top so as to not allow water inside, making it weatherproof. Mock me if you will, but I think I have something here.
