Got a link?

Its available through WES Components (Australia).
I received the brochure by email, I doubt it is in their catalog yet, I haven't looked.
So I can't really give a link, sorry !!

240 V 50HZ Not 60 HZ Not shure if it would affect its use here.

Yes it could, there perhaps would'nt be adequate filtering for our 60 hx hum, not to mention you cannot use it due to the 240 volts.

I was real excited for a minute. The only thing I can find close to that in the States is a kit for about $75. Why must the whole World do things differently than us?

:-) actually, I'm always wondering why you guys need to do things differently than the rest of the world!! Luckily I'm measurement bilingual.. this speaker building stuff is constantly switching between the two. 6.5 inch drivers with 6mm of xmax, with an 8 inch port in a 38 litre cabinet. It make my head hurt sometimes.

There HUNDREDS of small active monitors for sale on the market, and all of them have some kind of small full-range plate amp in the 20-50W range to power them. There's no way all these companies are designing their own amps, so who's supplying them?

How hard is that?

And, of course, the filtering provided will work *better* at 60 Hz. than it does at 50 Hz. . . .

Max - Good Luck. I've been looking for a year. I don't think they want the DIY community to get in.

Why are we stuck even looking at just plate amps (Keiga) without tone controls, balance, headphone inputs, USB hook-ups etc. when there are hundreds of them out there?

Kits - all I can find.

To me you're better off hooking up a nice old analog receiver to your Computer than these wimpy gain clones with zero features. I don't think those things sound all that great either.

Gordon -

Of course you are correct. Tell me as I don't know - I thought it was The Canucks who started metrics and the rest of The World followed suite. Did the rest of The World always have the different electrical system as well?

use a transformer to convert it to 250V, or plug it in your dryer outlet

Would'nt the tranny be limited to the milliamps it can safely support? Also, dryer outlet would severely limit where to use the thing....Regards, Aric

Hi Soupy,

I'm afraid we can't take credit for starting the metric system :-). We (the populace) were dragged into it kicking and screaming the end of the world which is the usual in the face of any change. (embarassingly we were the same way over seatbelt laws). I'm glad we have them both.

We do have 60Hz/120V household electricity though, just like you. Europe is 50/240 though if I recall correctly. I'm not sure about everyone else though.

One of the other items changed by the French Revolution ! 1791 by LaPlace and others .
Meter was originaly supposed to be 1 /10 millionth
of the 1/4 circumference of the earth ; but too
hard to measure ; ( and the earth is "egg" shaped , not round . ) So , for awhile , the standar meter was between two marks on a platinum bar . Now , defined to 9 decimal places by the wavelength of the red - line - of Krypton ! DVW

well the dryer thing was a joke, but surely you would only draw milliamps from the circuit anyway, but we have used up to 100 amp transformers for machinery, think of a "ballast" to to make 125W @ 250v would be a load of .5 amps, using a 1-to-2 ratio trans you would draw 1 amp to make 125w

Right, and then when we get it working, the total cost will far exceed what it would cost to purchase something better from PE. :)

"Law of Diminishing Returns" anyone?

Transformers are cheap. $10-15 breaks the bank? And, looking at the picture, it's not like it's hard to do, or there's a problem getting one that fits . . .
