for the price it could be a fun way to try out ribbons. With the relatively low (for a ribbon) sensitivity, and the serviceability with it's stated FR, it could make for a cool TMM...

Hi Nick,

The only downside is that the NeoCD1.0 requires a crossover around 5K for best results. It sounds excellent when used properly. Like all manufacturers, ignore the crossover recommendations.

I think it was 4k in Paul's CanTiLenas. FWIW, I liked the price on the HiVi RT1.3, and it's lowend capabilities. I'll be using it with the DynaVox 5.25".

Hi Wolf,

Actually, Paul stated 5K. I'd thought about using it in the new Statements Monitors that Curt and I are working on but we didn't want to cross the W4 that high. The NeoCD1.0 works great with a mid dome like the MDM-55.

...Those Dynavox drivers look soooooo sexy! But nobody (or very few) has done anything with them.
So I guess it takes a free-thinker like the Wolf-Man to enlighten the masses. You have to admit that you hate to bury the ***-end of that architecture inside a wooden box where nobody can see it. -CJB

Shawn has already done a design for them with the Usher 9950, so I'm not the first!!! It is *HEAVY* also, not just pretty. Unfortunately, I will be burying it's rear end internally. I'll be using an MAPD alignment with it, and if I don't like it- I get a nice brace when I remove the AP vent! I plan to have the xover embeded in the rear of the cab, visible through .25" plexiglass. I'm cloning the old Red Rose R3 with these drivers.
Thanks for inquiring!

It's actually 4.8 kHz in the canTiLenas.

Jim,

Do you recall Curt's reason why he doesn't think the CD1.0 will work down to 4K? The response looks fairly useable down to 3k, but I bet there is a rise in distortion down that low, but until someone tests it I wouldn't rule it out playing to 4k LR4.
