To continue a link below for those interested, here is a picture of the AR 6" and 5.25" drivers. The 6" is the big one. Both appear to be well made, although the 6" mounting holes are very close to the edge. It would be easy to break the hole. Anyway, for the solution to the controversy, see next post.

I don't know what that little hole on the back of the driver is called in your neck of the woods, but down south, we call it a vented pole, and they both have it. Just like when cousins marry and their kids all have six fingers on their hands. Kinda a family thing I guess.
Will you be doing any measurments on these? (hope)

Sorry, not me. I can measure finished speakers, but not raw drivers.

That's odd. You can't specify a baffle width dimension, and measure in the cabinets? It would dictate that the baffle width be used, but everything else would be fair game. I think the upper-end is the issue that everyone wants to see anyway, and this would be above BSC areas.

I was thinking in terms of T/S parameters, for which I have no equipment. I could test for FR, but time is an issue right now and I don't have enough of it to locate and reassemble my test rig, and then remember how to use it. The last time I tested a speaker was '03, so I'm confident almost anyone could do a better job.
I'm entering into the busy time of the year for me (I'm a builder) and with the building trade hurting I've got to get it while I can unless I want to go hungry next winter. From Oct 1, '07 through March 1, '08, my business was off approximately 95%, so I'm just glad the phones are ringing again. It will be at least June before I'll be able to get to it.
On the other hand, I did install 4 of the 6" into my surround speakers this evening, replacing Axon 6S1's. These are actively crossed @ ~3000hz to B&G Neo3PDR's. I played music through them for a couple of hours earlier just out of curiosity and FWIW they sounded great. I didn't touch the EQ so there might be more to tweak out of them, but I detected no harshness, and they did sound quite a bit more detailed and punchy as you would imagine vs the 6S1 which has kind of a reserved poly cone type sound when compared to a lot of drivers. Beyond that it's hard to say more because my surrounds bounce sound all over the place.
