Hello,
I just wanted to flash one of my latest creations. The speakers are being
used as main monitors in a recording studio, soffit mounted and powered
by Class-D amps.

System config:
18x Dayton RS 8"
4x Dynavox 6,5"
2x RAAL Ribbon 140-15
10ch Class-D amps
Digital x-over
And yeah, they play really loud and CLEAR!! :D :D
Cheers,
Lindell

Very cool.
Why did you go with the RSS210 over the RSS265 or something else?
Are they used near or far field? Listening impressions?

I choosed the RSS210 because I wanted to have as many small woofers as possible on that footprint. It gives more cone area, more power handling. Plus I really like the punch and tightness of the RSS210. I haven't really found a better 8" driver.
It's about 2,5 meters from the speakers to the listening spot behind the mixing console.
The sound is very clear, open and punchy. No resonance peaks or other weird things. Stereo image is pin sharp, very very accurate. The drivers are time-aligned using mlssa.

I think I just swallowed my tongue. That's beautifully executed! Can you give us more details on the construction and the amplification used? Call me curious.
If these sound even close to how they look.... WOW!
I am a fan of the 6.5'' Dynavox. My friend has 4 of them in his basement and just tortures them without any sign of them giving up. The strangest thing is that you don't see any designs using this driver. The price of the Dynavox keeps going up at PE. I find that strange because I'm pretty sure the models they sell are old. Dynavox has changed their basket design and beefed up the connectors some time ago.

I second the "AMAZING" statement. I really like the looks of the HF 8".

Hey Shawn, did you get your Dynies going yet? I'm looking for an MTM which uses the 6''.
Just as an added point; my friend droped the Dynavox 6.5'' into a set of Bostons (I think they're A4's), added a Pyle super bullet and two 10'' Polk subs. When we add a few Becks and a little Scotch, he plays vocals, another friend plays electric guitar, another on electric piano, and CD music all at the same time. As I said before, he tortures these Dynavoxes. I can only imagine how they would sound in a nicely designed MTM with a good tweeter.

I really like the carbon fiber finish. I want to try it myself very soon- instead of some boring wood veneer.
600g... that sure isn't cheap!

i assume you have plenty of fiberglass experience. If not, mess with that first before wasting expensive cloth.
What type of music does the studio normally deal with? Also, did you wet lay the cf or bag it?

Yeah, I actually have experience with Carbon Fiber hand lay-up using vacuum bagging. :) But I agree, it's way too expensive to waste!
http://www.fibreglast.com/ actually has some black fiberglass in a twill weave made to look exactly like carbon fiber that looks interesting for finishing applications. I just wish they made it in the plain weave- looks better to me.

Looks are a matter of taste. But I believe the "twill" is easier to achieve a higher fiber to resin ratio. Maybe not important with speakers, but it says "high performance" to me, while the regular weave looks bloated with resin. :D

Is there any way I can have you automatically E-mail me, when the price for these drops to below $500?

Is there really any purpose for the carbon fiber beyond appearance? They have vinyl that looks like carbon fiber, probably a lot cheaper. Maybe not as nice of a look for a high end job like that, but still useable for smaller projects.
