I was cleaning and re lubricating a fish tape (as I have done before without incident) that got gnarsty with my last install. It went sproing, and flung lube all over some cherry wood I had out. I know stupid me for having it out.
Anyway, I was wondering if I could use a solvent to "lift" it out. Spirits, acetone, any suggestions. A better way than using solvents?

TIA,
Adrian

Solvent should work fine. I used laquer thinner on some mahogany veneered Cryolites to remove minwax so that I could refinish them. Worked great. Ended up french polishing them.
