Cynosure Options

Now that my cabinet guy is working on my 15" series II sub enclosures, it's time to turn my attention the much needed replacement of my CC speaker. I've mostly decided I want to do Darren's Cynosure design, but I see the TB 3" drivers are out of stock until sometime next month.

So . . . What other drivers are worthy replacements? I've even thought that the 4" RS 100s would be a great modification, but obviously the cabinet design would need to be adjusted. . perhaps the crossover components as well. I have a salvaged JBL 035Ti HF driver from a pair of 4406 cabinets I want to use for the tweeter. In the 4406 it was crossed @ 3k

If you like the Cynosure, then build it, AS DESIGNED. It uses a complex XO that will not give good results if you swap out the TB 3"ers. Keep Darren's tweeter too.

I'm building a cynosure and wondered if anyone thought about isolating the tweeter from the mids with a chamber that would also serve as bracing. Maybe port it out the back?

Stupid idea?

What would the area be for the tweeter chamber if not?
