Playing with a new project that I have had the drivers for sometime. It is an open back mid range. I dont really think its dipole technicaly so I'll just say open back. I have played around with it abit trying it first as a mid with minimal over lap as to the tweet and woofers and found that it sounded very thin. This most likely from my inexperience.
Playing around with some simulation's I found that i was able to get the sound I like by really using it in more of what I am going to call a filler driver. I really dont know if that is what I am doing or not just seems appropreate terminology to me. I have the simulated spl take a look please. As Iam not very good at discribing things I will let the pic hopefully explain what Iam doing. My question is what would be the negitive affect of this implimentation. Basicly what I am doing is boosting the mid frequencys with the mid driver to make for a flat response. The driver's are a Hiq Ow2, Scan 15w4831G0 for the mid / filler and 2 Scan 18w4831G0 wired in series with second order LR slopes. This is only a simulation have not been able to do any real measurements yet as I am having computor issues.
Really just wondering as I said earlier what detrimental sounds I should be listening for. What does comb filtering sound like? The baffle layout is much like the sonus farber Cremona only with lower woofer lower on baffle. So far sounds really nice thou and do those scans do Bass nice.
Please excuse my spelling and grammer :).
Thanks a Million
