I want to build the triune but with a seperate bottom enclosure housing two dayton classic 6.5" 8 ohm woofers for added bass. I was planning on bi-amping the two enclosures (with four channels of a 7.1 system) would this work? Or would it be better to convert it into a 3-way speaker. Give me suggestions Please. I would like to purchase the 6.5" classics while they are still on sale. Also I am having a hard time finding a 7.1 receiver with 4 ohm outputs that is not super expensive. Any one have suggestions for the $300-500 range.

So what you want to do is find a cheap 7.1 A/V receiver with pre outs and main ins with 4 ohm capability, use an active crossover to split the L/R channels, plug the split L/R signal back into the main L/R and two surround amp channels? Do I have that right?

Why not do the Impresario? It need not be built in that curvy cabinet like in the Showcase and would more or less get you to the same place with a nice clean 8ohm load.
