OK, well, i had a lot of people interested in the cutting last time, so here it is again.

I will mainly be cutting 3/4" MDF, but possibly 1 1/8" Particle board as well.

I have adjusted my fees to balance out costs of large and small speakers. There where small ones with more maching then larger ones, yet costing only a fraction of the price.

MDF runs $3 square foot, 1 1/8" PB 4$ a square foot

Machining is as follows

Simple Panel: 3$
Single Speaker Baffle: 4 $
Multi Speaker baffle : 5$
Misc ( carving, designs, ect ) ask for quote.

The reason i did this was to make larger spakers more affordable

So, a 12" x 12" x 12" sub box
6 square feet material = 18$
5 panels = 15$
1 single speaker baffle = 6$

total = 39$

Assembly is still 1/2" kit price,
so box assembles is 58$ plus shipping

Now, same box but 18" x 18" x 18"

So, a 12" x 12" x 12" sub box
13.5 square feet material = 40.50$
5 panels = 15$
1 single speaker baffle = 6$

total = 61.50$

Assembly is still 1/2 kit price,
so box assembles is 92$ plus shipping

old pricing would have put the kit at 81 $ and built price at 121.50$

For those wanting pairs, or multipe baffles, I will do a discount, as i am just trying to cover all my programming time.

PM me if you have any questions

Well, ihave 4 sheets filled up as of right now. Anyone interested i need to know by next thursday. I will offer 15% discount if you can give me usable DWG or DXF files of the psrts you need, as i spend a lot of time trying to write the programs to get all the spaker cut outs right

Can you run baltic birch on your CNC machine, or only MDF? I'm interested in building something like this: http://www.audiojunkies.com/blog/863/translaminated-diy-speakers

Thanks,

Randy

easy money right there is you could get me some drawings. It will be alot of easy moneu, as 40 layers of baltic could get high dollar. just looking at id, if it was about 12" x 18" foor print, i could get 12-15 layers a 5' x 5' sheet. thats 4 sheets per box, maybe 7 for a pair. Thats about 200$ just in baltic birch. But as far as the machine, i could cut that in 45 min i bet

I've got a buddy who's an AutoCAD wiz. I'll see if he can whip up some drawings for me. Yeah, that amount of baltic birch will be pricey, but the finished product looks amazing. I'll be back in touch as soon as I have a DXF file for you to look at.

Thanks,

Randy

Let me know how the cuts for your budget minis turn out. I've been wanting to try a project like this for quite some time, just didn't have access to a CNC router. If the baltic birch won't work, the other alternative is to use MDF, stack and glue the pieces and then wrap the cabinet with veneer. I'll need to adjust the design a bit to remove the little scallop in the back, but it should be a workable design.

Can you cut braces like the ones used by some DIYers to build the curved cabinets for the RS 3 way on HT Guide Forum? Here's the link look at the pdf listed in post # 879. If so can we figure out how much it would cost? I'll send a details sheet reflecting all the measurements.

Thx
mike

hey, PM me or email me. im trying to do smaller batches of cutting now, as i got swammed last time ( 10 sheets is a lot ), anyway, im sure i can cut it.

also, did you see the pics of my budget mini stack lamination in the forum?

I want to thank Nik for his services.

I've had this speaker-related project on the back burner for about 5 years now, but never got the courage up to attempt it with just my router. I knew one day I'd find someone with access to CNC, so the design was kept on file.

Anyway, during the holidays I'll try to find time to build a shelf across the middle, and make a cubby hole underneath for storage, followed with a painted finish. Pictures of the finished project later.

Hope some of you enjoy it as much as I do. :D
