Covering a box with felt

has anyone used felt to finish a speaker box? I'm trying to get some ideas on how this is done.

I've used upholsters felt to line boxes and it works well.

I would think they might be a touch hard to keep clean....

Felt would be IDEAL to line boxes with if you did a few layers. Not so sure on using it as an exterior finish though.

It is used quite often for outside finish for DJ type speakers.
