I am building Zaph's WgTMM's. These will be used for music as well as HT. I want to add a sub but don't know what I should get. From what I've read the requirements for a sub that is 'best' for music is different than a sub that is 'best' for HT so I realize I can't have the best of both worlds. Ideally i would like to optimize the sub for music, I listen to a lot of old rock'n'roll. I assume whatever design works best for music would be good enough for HT to satisfy me since it's just to make things go boom in that application. If that reasoning is flawed let me know.

My room is fairly small ~12ft. x 25ft. I don't want to go any bigger than ~16" cube but I probably can go bigger if it's really necessary. I will be building the amp myself so a 4Ohm speaker would be nice so I can use the transformers I have on hand and still get good output, also the XO's will be active so I can make whatever I want.

I will be placing a order from PE and want to put a sub in the order to save on getting one shipped from another source so one that is sold here would be a bonus.

Thanks for any help.

rss315 in a sealed cube of 2.5 cu ft is a good musical sub. f3 is 36hz and f6 is 28 or 29 hz. you can make a 18 inch cube work with an out board amp. seal and stuff it with 1.5 to 2 lbs of polyfil. the 18 inch cube can use 1 inch mdf he 18 inch is the out side. home depot sells 1/2 inch if you can't find 1 inch mdf

total cost is 540 or so this is a good musical sub it is not easy to get the same sound quality at a lower price. some times a used sub comes up that is just as good on ebay or audiogon but that is a c r a p shoot. outlaw audio has a nice sub close to the same quality but it costs more and it is sold out.
