could anyone suggest which would be the better way to set up my P.A.

right now I have my mixer outputs going to my power amp berhinger, then going to some 15 inch JRX tops from their I use the speaker level out to go down to two powered JBL subs.

would it be better to go from the mixer outs into the powered subs then back to the amp then to the tops?

would this free up the tops from trying to reproduce the lower frequencys that the subs are supposed to?

thanks for any suggestions.

Yes.. if the powered subs have a high pass out it's better to connect the tops to this than directly out from the mixer.

Yes, and even more important it would prevent the cancellation effects that will occur when more than one source is used within the same bandwidth, which will reduce your bass output. Never run tops and subs without a full crossover, and never split your subs either, as they will then act as two sources with the same result.
