It almost looks like plexiglass/acrylic with a painted or colored layer on the back, since you can clearly see the screw holes through the surface.

I like those a lot. Nice work. Good idea. Sometimes there is brilliance in simplicity.
Those look nicer than the terminal cups one can get and seem more prudent/afforable than going full bore with the binding post plates one can buy.
Can I assume you just machined up some plexiglass and painted the back?

You are just about right. Please note, don't try to cut acrylic with a wood blade. Get one that is made from acrylic. It will have many more teath.
And yes, cut to size, routed edges, sanded and hand polished. Painted from the back.
I'm going to do a video today or tomorrow and I'll post the steps.

What paint did you use. When I was in high school we worked with acrylic in shop and there was a special paint for it. Just wonder where I could find it now.

One disadvantage I can see is that they stick out, a normal cup would allow everything flush. Having said that mine are all "sticking out" because I am super lazy and cheap, so I just screw the terminals straight into the wood! :D So they are mostly located on the sides so the speakers can be put against a wall.
They only stick out if you mount them to the outside. I mount them to the inner surface, making the plate the back side of the terminal cup. These would look very nice!

Those look great! I have been doing something similar (originally to cover up a "change of plans" ;). I really like the professional look of the plastic.

I can safely say I've never seen a saw blade made from acrylic. I don't get out much though :D

That came from a post that __Ω__ mentioned and then it hit me, Pyle must make the fastest subwoofers on the market. I'm there!

Of course I meant a blade meant to cut acrylic. :).
I use krylon for the plastic. It seems to stick well, dry fast and there are a lot of colors to choose from.

The binding posts sticking out don't bother me. But you could flush mount them if you wanted. Router anyone :)

Trust me, we've looked for a Goldwood logo but I don't think they really have one that would be obvious enough to use by itself.
