TriTrix LCR in Red Oak

I am very pleased with the way this project (my first speaker build) evolved. The look and sound exceeded all of my expectatons.
The baffles are red oak and the L/R have walnut accents. Oak is stained with a blend of 1/2 cherry and 1/2 Special Walnut. Minwax gloss wipe on poly was the finish. All painted surfaces are Rustoleum 2X flat black.

Man, that's freakin' cool! You have a whole bunch of new ideas going on there that I've never seen before. And for the most part, they're all cosmetic and won't impact the sound (the grills are debatable to some ...:rolleyes:)

That's a great speaker for someone to get some inspiration on giving old designs a fresh new look! Keep it up! ... better yet, do one of my designs!!! :D

Thanks. Sorry but it was rattle can. The Rustoleum 2x at HD is very good stuff to work with.
Detail! Of course.... As an Architect my job is to take something simple and make it unneccessarily complicated and unaffordable.

All 5 of my TriTrix are 10 liter sealed so I use a sub passed at 80. I am very pleased with the sound from top to bottom. I also have a new sub in the planning stages that should make it even better. Thanks.

Very nice job Mark. I'm currently working on a set of TriTrix, TLs, and vented, for a HT system. We corresponded yesterday in a different thread regarding a sub-woofer for my system. I'm making eight, and two of the vented speakers will be ceiling mounted and adjustable in pan and tilt, as your's are. I had planned on making the brackets out of 1" square steel tubing -- mostly because I didn't want to risk strength issues. I see your brackets are oak and it looks like they're up to the task. Any issues? Oak would be simpler that welding up something that looks nice, so I'm interested in following your design approach.

Also, I'm interested in what you did where they attach to the ceiling. I'd planned on something more complex, but then I tend to make things more complicated than they need to be at times.

By the way, I loved your comment about Architects.

Nothing fancy with my ceiling support. 1x2 oak with pocket screws in the 2 corners. 8x32 screws into huricane nuts on the two speaker ends. It is mounted to the ceiling with a 2 1/2" or 3" black wood screw thru the 1x2 oak, 3/8" small oak spacer (glued to 1x2), thru 1/2" gyp. bd. and into 2x joist. I put a finish washer on the screw to keep the screw head from pulling thru the 1x2 oak.
