Have you thought about building a great sounding 2-way using a ribbon tweeter? Visit the link below for more details. The project shown in the pic below and at the link utilizes a KLH-17 cabinet. However, any cabinet of about 0.9 cu. ft. volume will do. Just modify the special baffle board to accomodate it. Sonic nirvanna awaits you!

FIXED.

That's what I get for copy/pasting from the member's project gallery posting.

And now I have to join a different forum to get any real information on them? Attached files to your post require a membership to download. You would probably be better off making an entirely new thread here and pasting in the actual content into that thread instead of redirecting to another forum.

Thanks for the tip. I'll try and attach the document. It's rather large. I just thought initially it was too large to upload. However, nothing ventured - nothing gained as they say!

Okay, I tried and nothing doing.
Here's a link to another site (CT. Audio Society's public page) that should work.

Tested and it works. You're also welcome to download my capacitor vs VDC rating document.

looks really good carl,
i imagine for a diy'er to replicate that baffle, it might be a bit of a challenge but it sure looks sharp.
is the slight dip at ~1.8k audibly noticable?

No it's not noticeable.

BTW, I spent a few months searching for a carpenter who could make those baffle boards. The key problem cut is the flare for the ribbon. The guy I finally found is local here in northern CT. Anyone wanting to contact him, PM me and I'll gladly give you his contact info.

Looks like a pretty cool project. I wonder if Nic Brewer (spelling?), the guy that's on this forum with his CAD driven MDF cutting equipment could slice up a baffle easily.

I did a baffle like that for my LCYs, you just cut a square template with the dimensions the same as the back of the throst, mount it to the baffle (temporarily) and drill a through hole then use a 45deg chamfer bit on your router. Be sure and size up as you are looking at a diagonal - a 1/2" recess requires a 3/4" cut edge on the bit (A squared, etc.). My Ace had one, but HD didn't, it was meant for cabinet edging and ran about 17 bucks IIRC.

The flare on my project is 30 deg. which required a rather rare 120 deg. router bit.

Man alive, 12 screws for that woofer?

I like the look of the recessed tweeter, though.

or it requires a drill press and milling table.

That is an interesting baffle. I've been thinking of something very similar for a Neo3.

As I recall, that is about the angle used in the inserts of panel doors, so A bit set for doing panel doors might work.

Only for the flared cutout around the tweeter and nothing else.
