A project for builders with strong backs! Your megaliths are coming together quite well...quite well.
What is the rationale for screwing the baffle to the bracing (instead of just gluing)? And how do you plan to finish these?
Enjoy,
- John

They are glued (epoxy) too. It was darn hard cutting everything perfectly straight. You start out with a full sheet of heavy MDF and you try your best to manipulate it, get it to slide on the table saw all nice and straight, but it's a tough job. The screws in the front kind of help even out some of the minor irregularities. The only places that I'm using screws is on the front and they are all going to be hidden, covered up by a second layer of glued on MDF.
I dunno about finish yet. I have free access to a bunch of formica scraps. If I find anything interesting/nice it will probably be formica, if not then it will have to be paint. Veneer is out of the question, too many square feet, too expensive.

those LOOK heavy. wide baffle.
those LOOK heavy. wide baffle.
Getting heavier too. I figured that a wide baffle should support the upper bass better. Anyway, I'm expecting good efficiency.

Wow! Looks like some mounted wheels in the back might be in order! Hint: Cheaper than veneer= Luan/door skins. Usually has a red side and a white-ish reverse side. Its Philippean Mahogany, Man!

What's going in that funny-shaped top hole?

What you currently see is the inner layer of what will eventually be a double thick front baffle. I will be gluing on another layer of MDF.
The holes are relief for the woofer and midrange to breathe and for the tweeter magnet.

I thought that's what it might have been, Wow, those are going to be heavy lol. I picked up a piece of MDF the other day when I got my wood cut... those probably have at least a whole sheet each, huh?

Yes, so far I've used up two sheets of 3/4 MDF. One more sheet of 5/8 MDF will be cut for the double thick fronts. So basically each enclosure is one and a quarter sheets. They are already quite heavy and will be getting even more so. Kind of difficult to pick them up too, because there are no handles or anything to really grab ahold of. I'll certainly weigh them when finished.
Thank you.
