Man, there always something. But I'm sure you'll have that fixed by the time I finish typing. Hope it wasn't $100 ft. speaker cable. That would really stink. Robert.

Nah, not too expensive (http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=100-481), but renting the cryogenics lab to treat it is a bummer :)

I'll splice it up and everything will be alright - just bums me out.

I think I am down to less than a few feet of that stuff, actually.

I actually think cats are worse. Have you ever seen speakers with the grille cloth all scratched up by cats? Even going through the cloth and shredding the woofer surrounds?

thank goodness my male dog is past his "copper" stage. I have to be careful about scraps of wire that drop on the floor. It must feel good to chew. It certainly can't be the taste...

It surprizes me sometimes how fast I go through speaker wire. And I don't have a dog.

And I don't chew on it unless I can't find my wire strippers.:D

Alan - that's funny. Here is a picture of black dawg playing with my sprinkler:

xavier, having a pair of labs has taught me the value of housekeeping, that's for sure.

Fortunately none of my animals have chewed up any of my stuff recently, tho I did once have a basset hound that ate my whole wallet.

Also: WHARRLGARRBL! That cracks me up every time.

My dog's gotten to the stage where he tries to "claim" everything in the house.

I have to permenanty block off the listening room in the basement cause he "claimed" my subwoofer once and i had to kick his a** all day...

I feel your pain Johnny! My dog has a bad run of chewing/eating things when he was a pup. The one I remember the most is when he ate half my wifes hair straightener. If you don't know what they are they're basically two heated flat anodized aluminum plates. The gouges in those plated were something else. I had to take one to the garage to see if I could get those kind of gouges with a screwdriver. Found out dog > screwdriver.

I got into a thing that I beat him with what ever he chewed... well not really beat him but give him a couple good smacks. Didn't take him long to lose his taste for small appliances and take a liking to stuffed animals.

BTW greywarden my dog owns every tree, lamppost, survey stake, and tire in the neighbourhood so I know what you're about.

I took each of my five cats in front of the Hives when I brought them in and yelled "NO!" three times and gave them a running start towards the hall. No claws in the woofers yet, but I was glared at and ignored for a couple of days.

I love my little house leopards, they are all strays, but I'm sure they picked up on the vibe that it was off to the pound with them if they ruined the speakers.

Another note on cat training: When I got the first two as kittens, I had a pair of hamsters in a 20 gal aquarium. Having seen the bloody results of cats and rodents as a young teenager- was watching a girl friend's 5 gerbils and my old alley cat, Tom, chased them down the first night in a trail from my room to the dining room, (one almost made it to the kitchen) didn't chew them, just a puncture or two in the body- so anyway, in turns, I put each kitten alone inside the aquarium with the hamsters and they got a terrific fright as the big, to them at that age, curious hamsters came over to make friends.

The male hamster lived for 7 years without a cover on the aquarium and often would visit and sleep on/with one of those cats on my bed. I never chanced leaving them alone with him out of the aquarium, though, as that's not where their conditioning occured.

All of us with pups have been down that road. Do you suppose the cryo makes it tasty?

Nice and crisp. Without the cryogenic treatment it is a little dark and grainy.

Had a similar experience when we first got our own "black dawg". First she chewed up the headphone cord on a pair of Sennheiser HD280's which I had to order from Senn and replace.

Then she chewed the power cord of a de-humidifier while it was plugged in! It must have taught her a lesson, as there was no subsequent chewing of cords.

I know how it is John! When we got our Dachshund puppy 2 years ago, she chewed through my speaker cables and the lamps on both ends of the couch! It was a wonder she did not get electrocuted!! I ended up ordering about 35 ft of split loom tubing from PE to protect all the replaced wiring! Pup did not care for the harder split loom tubing!

We just got a pup a month or so ago since we've been wanting a dog and my fiance has never had one. Since that was the case she figured she should have a puppy so she could get the whole experience and learn how they are from a young age. That, and a cute puppy just cant be topped.
SO, we picked up our little hellraiser "Jasmine" from the SPCA and its been a fun, although trying at times, experience so far. I've had dogs all throughout my life and their great, but shes learning that they are alot of work when they are young too.

Heres a pic or two...

Dogs can drive you nuts at times, but they are so worth it. You've got a cutey there :p

Cryo is too kind, some days lol. Mostly though, she has been a great dog. We adopted her as an adult from a lab rescue.

A real cutie. I miss having a dog, but can't take care of one at this time.

One of my dogs, steals tools (wrenches, sockets) from me when working in the garage. Doesn't take 'em to chew, just to watch Dad think he is going crazy(er).

The other one (small dog aka: sh*tbird) steals and buries socks! dirty socks, clean socks, new socks... ALL socks. She even taught herself how to bark with above mentioned sock(s) in her mouth.

Luckily, besides one rug, nothing destroyed in the house. Wouldn't give up either one for any reason, no matter how much speaker cable they chewed.

Johnny - Black dog vs. water pick = greatness :D

My two beloved retards: The first is an 80lb basset-bloodhound mix and the second is a 55lb all white malamute.

E-Skillit, that all white malamute is one impressive looking dog, like something out of a folk-tale or legend. Or maybe I'm just thinking of a Miyazaki anime movie.

The kitten responsible for this newly vented 8 inch woofer is now an outside cat, and if it continues to taunt the dog at 3am I might have to add a few feet to Fluffy's chain. Fluffy is EvilSkillit's Malamutes sister

You won't need the usual cryogenic treatment if you buy the wine-infused hardwood blocks to keep your cables off the floor.

I find that everything sounds better with a bottle of cryo-treated wine*

*The wine having been drunk after being cryo treated in my refrigerator.

And yes Kagura (the white dog) is quite majestic, and typically wolfy. She only loves me family and is terrified of everything else. Of course everybody wants to pet her because she's so beautiful. I always tell them if they want to crawl under the table and try, they're welcome to. She doesn't bite, but she's hard to catch.

I absolutely love dogs and like the others have posted here, would love them despite whatever happened. The pros out weigh the cons.

I'll post up some pics of the beast, Jax, later, and his older sister Bailey.

Oh snap, Glen Beck was just talking that he hasn't seen a half-man/half-monkey, do you think if I send him this picture it would be close enough?

I am getting a kick out of seeing other people's dogs. I love dogs, and can't imagine life without them, until I want to travel for a week

I think a box of cryo wine is far superior to a bottle.

The box isn't a strong enough dielectric when sitting on the wire racks in your fridge - that is where glass bottles truly shine.

Bird-Dog. Used for hunting/retreiving of the smallest of the game birds.

The wife did name the white dog after an anime character. It seemed fitting. Especially when she was small and just looked like a ridiculous white pomeranian.
