I am doing a little DJ-ing on the side and am running 2 older Peavey SP5 XT's bi-amped but want to add more to the low end. I am semi-experienced with building sealed subwoofer enclosures for car audio, but this is my first time with pro audio. I am looking for suggestions for a subwoofer that will add enough to my low end without being over powering, and I am willing to build the enclosure myself. Just need some tips when it comes to ported designs. Throw whatever you've got out there, any help is appreciated.

Whew...where do we begin?
What type of music do you play? How much room do you have for the subs? How much power will your amp provide? How will you cross-over? What size driver? A 15"? A twin 15" perhaps? How about a manly 18" or twin 18" sub? (If you're gonna be a bear, be a GRIZZLY!) Do you have a van or trailer to haul these puppies? A hand-truck or caster boards? What's your budget? Do you have a particular driver or manufacturer already in mind? Speakon or 1/4"? Do you plan to incorporate a grille? (Yes, "grille" with an "e" is what covers a speaker driver!) Steel handles? Corners--stacking or non, plastic or steel? Will you finish with paint, carpet or something else? Please tell me you plan to build with only 13 ply birch, lots of screws and glue, braced along all 3 axes!!
Just call me, brother. We'll talk.
