New OPPO BDP-93

It looks like the new OPPO BDP-93 Blue Ray player is available.

The OPPO site also has details on a higher-end unit (BDP-95) with enhanced audio capabilities. It is scheduled for a February release.

It might be time for me to upgrade my existing OPPO player, but the prices have certainly gone up since they made their name on inexpensive but high-quality players.

I'm hanging onto my old OPPOs. I'll just move them to another room and build more speakers!

One interesting thing is the eSATA and USB ports allow attaching an external hard drive full of content. On the audio-specific unit (not yet released), they advertise that it will be usable with WAV and FLAC files.

I wonder how the content will be managed by the user? On-screen selections?

Man, good thing I bought when I did! My BDP-80 was apparently the last of the "cheap stuff" from Oppo. Their new stuff certainly appears to still offer tremendous value for the money, but they're completely out of the low priced market now.

It's got RS232 so I'll be able to run it from my controller too.

Yay! Now maybe used 83s will come down to reasonable prices.

I've seen those go for pretty close to retail used even before they were disontinued......silly!:confused:
