I'm looking to buy my first Precision Measurement System (calibrated mic and RTA software). I want to be able to measure speakers that I build from time to time, as well as measure my dedicated home theater setup.

The Dayton OmniMic Precision Measurement System interests me - good price and functions. It's hard to say how accurate it actually is.

I was talking to a sound engineer who didn't think this system would be worth the $300, but he couldn't provide rationale other than price being $300. So he suggested buying ASO or BK precision mics and RTA s/w. He said they were really accurate, but $3KUSD

What to do you guys think?

The sound engineer was just being a snob. The OmniMic system should be plenty good enough for your purposes.

There was a thread about the omnimic system recently explaning why a different setup would be a better choice or something like that.

Thanks for the tip. I found the other thread.
